Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match between the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to seize a shock lead. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing shootout win.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
